Diane Medeiros Academy of Dance

All students are invited to participate in our 20th annual, 2012 year end gala performance,    at the Southern Lehigh Middle School Auditorium.

All dress rehearsals and performances are in the Southern Lehigh Middle School auditorium. Dates & Times for the 2012 Recital will be announced when available.

Dear Parents and Dancers:

With the recitals just around the corner, we wanted to take a minute to review the rules.   These rules go for both the recitals and the dress rehearsels.                                                Please take time to review these with each of your dancers. We also ask for the          parents' cooperation in adhering to the rules. This will help us keep your children safe, as well as having an enjoyable and successful recital.

Ticket Sales – Tickets will then be on sale at the studio during studio hours until they are sold out.Because the auditorium is small, all seats are very good. There is no reserved seating. Doors open 20 minutes before show time, and seating is first come, first serve. Only 600 tickets will be sold for each performance.

When purchasing tickets, each family will receive one “ Dress Rehearsal Pass ” for each cast their child is in. "Dress Rehearsal Pass" allows only one parent per family in the auditorium and you must present this Pass at the door. Cameras and Video Cameras are not permitted at any performances.

Children or students are not permitted in sit in the auditorium during dress rehearsal—NO EXCEPTIONS!

Rules will be strictly enforced to insure smooth rehearsals and performances.

We Need Your HELP!! – An organized rehearsal and performance is the result of many wonderful volunteering parents. If you are the parent of a dancer grade 2 through High School and would like to help backstage, we would greatly appreciate your time.

It's greatly appreciated and we do have a lot of fun backstage. The kids make it very exciting. Please consider joining our wonderful backstage team of moms and dads.

Backstage:

  • No cameras in the dressing room. People are constantly dressing, and undressing. Pictures may be taken quickly in the hall Only During Dress Rehearsel.
  • Please be sure to put names on costumes, accessories, and shoes. If they are lost or misplaced at a rehearsal or performance, it will make it possible to return lost items to their owner.

  • Only pretzels and water are allowed for the kids. We do not want ruined costumes.
  • The kids will be assigned to a dressing room; they must all remain there until they have finished their last dance. If they are in the finale, they remain in the dressing room until the finale. Students may NOT sit in the audience unless they have a ticket or are sitting on a lap, and only if they are finished dancing and not in costume.
  • Siblings will need to remain in their own dressing rooms, and a parent helper will go get the older sibling if needed.
  • NO children, dancers, or siblings are permitted in the audience during dress rehearsal. NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • All dancers should arrive a half hour before dress rehearsal or performances even if they do not dance right away. They need to understand what is going on.
  • After children leave the dressing room to go to the hall nearest the stage door, parents are asked to leave the hallway and go directly to the auditorium or back to dressing areas. PARENTS MAY NOT congregate in the hallway near the stage door. Please be cooperative and be respectful to our parent volunteers.
  • NO MEN allowed in the back hall or girls' dressing areas.
  • Mothers need to come back and help their children change between dances; we do not have enough helpers.
  • NO UNDERWEAR, bra straps or visible body stockings under costumes. We do not want panty lines or straps showing under costumes.
  • No jewelry of any kind. They get caught in costumes and also can affect the lighting. Small post earrings are acceptable.
  • No child will be allowed to leave the dressing rooms at the end of the recital without a parent. We will have a parent posted at the door to ensure your child's safety.
  • Kids are not allowed past the end of the hall in costume.

If the parents follow these rules it will be easier for the parents backstage to enforce                      them with the children. THANK YOU— Academy of Dance .

As we dance toward the end of yet another season, we want to thank the dancers for their hard work and all of the special parents for entrusting us with their children.

We look forward to a magnificent recital starring The Students of The Academy of Dance !
