RECITAL RULES AND PROCEDURES
With the recitals just around the corner, we wanted to take a minute to review the rules. These rules go for both the recitals and the dress rehearsals. Please take time to review these with each of your dancers. We also ask for the parents’ cooperation in adhering to the rules. This will help us keep your children safe, as well as having an enjoyable and successful recital.
Ticket Sales – HOW TO PURCHASE YOUR RECITAL TICKETS
Tickets will then be on sale at the studio during dance studio hours until they are sold out. Tickets are $16.00. Because the auditorium is small, all seats are very good. There is no reserved seating. Doors open 30 minutes before show time, and seating is first come, first serve. Only 500 tickets will be sold for each performance. When purchasing tickets, each family will receive one “Dress Rehearsal Pass”. Only one parent per family is permitted in the auditorium and must present this Pass at the door. Cameras and Video Cameras are only permitted during dress rehearsal. Children are not permitted in the auditorium during dress rehearsal—NO EXCEPTIONS! Rules will be strictly enforced to insure smooth rehearsals and performances.

We Need Your HELP!! – An organized rehearsal and performance is the result of many wonderful volunteering parents. If you are the parent of a dancer grade 2 through High School and would like to help backstage, we would greatly appreciate your time. It’s greatly appreciated and we do have a lot of fun backstage. The kids make it very exciting. Please consider joining our wonderful backstage team of moms and dads.
Tights and Shoes
Please be sure that your child has the proper color tights and shoes for the performances. Please refer to recital checklists to make sure you have all tights and shoes necessary for your dancers performance... below is a basic guidline.
Ballet- Revolution pink tights and pink ballet slippers
Tap- See teacher for tight color, 4-12 grade black pull on tap shoes and Kinder- 3rd black Mary Jane style tap shoe
Jazz, Hip Hop, and Tap- Revolution tan tights and black dance shoes
Acro Dance and Acro Jazz- Please see teacher
Lyrical- Revolution tan tights with tan jazz boots and/or Footundeez

As we dance toward the end of yet another season, we want to thank the dancers for their hard work and all of the special parents for entrusting us with their children. We look forward to a magnificent recital starring The Students of The Academy of Dance!
This is a perfect time to treat your child to the ultimate dance enrichment.
Miss Kelly, Miss Christine, Miss Sierra, and Miss Lindsay will be available for summer private lessons. This is a perfect time to treat your child to the ultimate dance enrichment. Students who take private lessons have the opportunity to work at their own pace with the eyes of the instructor exclusively on them. Students can select the area they would like to focus on. For details or to be put on a teacher’s summer list, please see any one of our instructors. Private lessons are $25.00 per lesson. Summer Dance Camps are offered for children of all ages. Please see a teacher for details.

- No cameras in the dressing room. People are constantly dressing, and undressing. Pictures may be taken quickly in the hall Only During Dress Rehearsel.
- Please be sure to put names on costumes, accessories, and shoes. If they are lost or misplaced at a rehearsal or performance, it will make it possible to return lost items to their owner.
- Only pretzels and water are allowed for the kids. We do not want ruined costumes.
- The children will be assigned to a dressing room; they must all remain there until they have finished their last dance. If they are in the finale, they remain in the dressing room until the finale. Students may NOT sit in the audience unless they have a ticket or are sitting on a lap, and only if they are finished dancing and not in costume.
- Siblings will need to remain in their own dressing rooms, and a parent helper will go get the older sibling if needed.
- NO children, dancers, or siblings are permitted in the audience during dress rehearsal. NO EXCEPTIONS!
- All dancers should arrive a half hour before dress rehearsal or performances even if they do not dance right away. Announcements will be made prior to the start of the recital.
- After children leave the dressing room to go to the hall nearest the stage door, parents are asked to leave the hallway and go directly to the auditorium or back to dressing areas. PARENTS MAY NOT congregate in the hallway near the stage door. Please be cooperative and be respectful to our parent volunteers.
- NO MEN allowed in the back hall or girls’ dressing areas.
- Mothers need to come back and help their children change between dances; we do not have enough helpers.
- NO UNDERWEAR, bra straps or visible body stockings under costumes. We do not want panty lines or straps showing under costumes.
- No jewelry of any kind. They get caught in costumes and also can affect the lighting. Small post earrings are acceptable.
- No child will be allowed to leave the dressing rooms at the end of the recital without a parent. We will have a parent posted at the door to ensure your child’s safety.
- Kids are not allowed past the end of the hall in costume.
